The Canon PowerShot S95 is a high-end 10.0-megapixel compact digital camera announced and released in 2010.

I got a Canon PowerShot S90 in 2009 once it is launched. It was the best compact camera at that time. I remember loving its macro mode and night time shooting. The color is also much better than pictures taken by Ricoh GRD. I had a great time with my S90.

Later in 2012 when I moved to Toronto and travel with Dad along east coast-- Maryland, DC, Boston, NYC... I accidentally dropped my Olympus XZ-1 and broke its LCD. We decided to get a new camera when we are in NYC. We went to get a Canon S100 when was the latest at that time at the famous B&H.

The S100 was great too and I took all my traveling photos with it. But after I came back to Taiwan for a while, I got another camera-- Panasonic LX100.

So I took daily pictures either with my iphone or with LX100. S100 was left in the box. When I think of it one day and go check, it can no longer be powered on. It's dead. I talked to Canon customer service and they provide an approximate quote for fixing this camera which is around US$215. It wouldn't make any sense to try to fix my beloved S100.

I checked online and see that S100, S110, S120 all got plenty quality issues. So I give up buying used S110/S120 from auctions. Instead, I found one S95 in good shape. According to the owner, the functions are all working well. And the appearance looks nice. I bought it for US$37.

I still have my dead S90. Their battery are the same. So hopefully I can get my battery from S90 and also the lowepro camera case and Canon hand strap. I also had Canon neck strap from my S100. That can be used on S95 too.

I bought a iphone lightening SD card reader to transfer image from S95 to my iphone 6s.

The only thing I wish is that this S95 can live long. Yes, 10 years is already amazing, but I hope it can keep on rocking! Henry is using my powershot SD450 which I bought in 2006. It's quite unbelievable. 14 years old digital camera and it still works perfect. Old Canon camera's quality is really nice.

This S95 is for his 2020 Christmas gift. He says "Mommy, I really enjoy taking pictures." So a bit upgrade is prepared for my lovely 5 year old boy. You are just like me.
